We are passionate about growing nutritious food, and equally passionate about ensuring that our food gets to those who need it most.
GROWING FOR SOUP KITCHENS & FOOD PANTRIES
Since 2008, we have partnered with The United Way of New York City and Just Food to grow food under contract for food pantries and soup kitchens in Jamaica, Queens. Through this Hunger Action Nutrition program, we provide over 20,000 pounds of fresh, organic produce to those in need every season. Our distribution partners include St. Albans Baptist Church, Big Sisters Center, House of Completion and First Church of God in Christ.
More than 200,000 pounds of our produce has been grown for food pantries & soup kitchens since the start of this partnership.
WEEKLY DONATIONS - NOTHING GOES TO WASTE
Any produce that does not meet our high quality standards, or excess from our markets or harvests gets donated every week to selected charities in our local communities. These include St. John's the Evangelist Parish Outreach, Loaves & Fishes Program at Mattituck Presbyterian Church, Food Not Bombs, Island Harvest and many other local organizations. Over the course of the season, tens of thousands of pounds of our produce is distributed to those most in need.
We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of several of our CSA members who buy shares which are then anonymously gifted to families who cannot afford to join themselves.
